the first one is nearly full.

Anyone welcome, it's basically a "what happened in church/spiritual life/anything else you want to chat about that's vaguely related (or not) to churchy stuff.

and if she doesn't finish her list, it gets transferred to the next day.
but she's not allowed to transfer it more than 3 times

madhairday · 08/03/2011 12:41

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 12:43

well DS1 gets £10 pocket money a month - I top up his mobile before he gets his hands on it though, so this month he actually got given £3.08 pocket money - as to have his £10 credit on his phone I needed to add £6.92 to it.

DS2 gets £5 a month and gets a maximum of 50p a week deducted for not helping when I ask him to.

They're generally pretty good at helping - problem is when I'm so tired I can hardly move I just don't have the energy to get up and do it with them - so naturally they're more reluctant to do stuff.

Yesterday I had more energy after school so we did a reaonable 45 minute session and got quite a bit done.

I should rejoin the slatterns thread (I did inadvertently start it nearly 3 years ago Shock) - but even then I make the list.........and if I'm not sleeping am too tired to do anything more than the absolute bare minimum so the list just grows and grows and grows......

I need to sort my sleep it

Hope you get some better sleep soon Baroque, it's miserable not having the energy for normal stuff.
How old is DS1? dd is 10 and gets £7, but thinking about putting it up again.

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 12:55

it doesn't matter if the list grows.
what matters is you ticking stuff off.

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 12:59

in my house, we do the bare minimum.
floor gets hoovered, pots get washed (worktops cleaned at the same time)
when we have guests, the dining table gets cleared. (not entirely sure what happens to the pile of crap that's on there, though...)
toilet gets swished with bleach and "scrubbed"
bath gets washed out after use.
laundry gets done as and when (usually overnight, and i hang it out before I go to work)
bed gets changed

we don't do any other housework

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 12:59

mhd - yes, you do! Grin

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 13:05

I don't even get that much done when I'm in zombie mode from insomnia.

MHD - DS1 is 10, I only started giving them pocket money in January this year - after DS1 got his phone for Christmas. Told him I'd top it up to £10 each month.........and then had the idea of giving him £10 pocket money - which first has to be used to top up his phone to the £10. Idea is to make him think about how he's using his phone, and that if he wants money to spend he needs to watch how much he uses. (and likewise the opposite way round - the "bill" gets paid first - and then he gets the money left over to play with).

Decided it wasn't fair on DS2 not to get anything so set the £5 thing for him with the option to lose it if he's too stubborn with helping out Grin

Good thinking baroque

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 13:15

very clever plan.
I like it.

mhd

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 13:16

(i didn't put time-scales on my chores - they really do only get done when we can be bothered - bed every 3 errks or so, and everything else about once a week, maybe? - apart from laundry, which is keep putting loads in till it's all gone (and then it starts again))

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 13:17

errks should have been weeks - has my keyboard been moved an inch to the left???

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 08/03/2011 13:20

yeah well figured it's only another 2 1/2yrs before he can take on a paper round and earn some cash for himself..........may as well start learning that "bills" have to be paid before you can have your fun Grin

Oh - (totally different subject - though "bills" reminded me). Today I went to pay my water bill (among others) and realised that I didn't have to pay it as I get 2 months off, AND then when I looked carefully at my statement online I realised that I've FINALLY paid off my social fund loan I took out 2yrs ago. They used to take the money off my Income Support beforeI got it - knew it was due to finish in Feb/March time and sure enough yesterday I got the amount I should get

So treated myself to a coffee machine (I had one thatI got 2yrs ago off freecycle, was an ancient yellow - think it used to be cream/white - one very very basic, but did the job. Well it died near the end of last year and I'd just not had the money to replace it even with a bog standard cheapy one.

So today I went and bought \link{http://www.russellhobbs.co.uk/russell-hobbs-products/coffee-machines/coffee-makers/deluxe-coffee-maker-18118.html\this one} for myself Grin

When I moved i here I inherited a rather nice Russel Hobbs Kettle and Toaster - so I'm all co-ordinated too

nickelprincess · 08/03/2011 13:31

oooh, very posh! Grin
I can't drink coffee cos it makes me vomit (not allergic, just the smell, i think, oh, and the taste. it's vile)
but lovely for you! Grin

such a relief when you finish paying off something, isn't it? like you've come into money all of a sudden! and not to have to pay water on top of it, you must feel like a millionaire

thanks, mhd , i've now got more than coffee to vomit overtoday.

madhairday · 08/03/2011 13:36

oh yes it's a good feeling - still got a load of other little debts here and then to get rid of (none are huge - there's just lots of little bits dotted around). But it's a start, and I paid a bit extra on my rent assistance loan today so hoping I'll get that paid off earlier too.
