Reading through posts from ladies who suffer from stress, anxiety, anger, or just looking for this "something", whatever it is, and not being quite able to find it, I thought I share my little cure... mindfulness. Amazing state of mind and awarness of living in the moment and being and existing now. Nothing to do with religion, more with a way of life or philosophy of life. Doesn't take long to learn and with a bit of practice every day, and you can literally practice whenever and wherever, you find a peace and silence in your mind. I can't praise it enough. There are some free workshops in London if any of you wanted to try for yourself. Can post their website if anyone wanted to have a go at this.

This does seem to be a popular concept at the moment. I saw a on FB someone talking about mindfulness to stop themselves complaining, but I found that in this particular context, she was trying to deny her emotions, rather then deal with them.

Glad to here it's helped you Oliwla.

Sometimes, I think people misunderstand the purpose of things. Mindfulness is not a tool to stop you doing particular things, but to learn how to control the thoughts traffic in your head. You're able to stand back and observe the thoughts, rather than getting drawn in by them, which can cause anxiety, stress, etc. You discover that most of the worry, guilt, regrets, anger and frustration we experience every day is not caused by what is happening in the reality of the moment, but is caused by what is going on and on and on in our heads. It teaches you that past and future don't exist, becasue they eaither already happened or will happen. What exists is now! And now is what we should be most concerned about. Living in the moment and being free of constant thinking of "what ifs" with regards to the past. Or thinking that that new car, new house, new job, holiday, more money, or whatever else we're chasing is going to somehow fill the void. And it never does. Not for long. Because only us, ourselves, can make us happy. Anyways... could bore you for hours..

Hi Oliwia,

Thank you for the link, this is something I've been interested in for ages - got stacks of books etc about it but struggle to put it into practice so I have registered and will attend one of the workshops and hopefully I'll crack it from there :o

I've just signed up for a Mindfulness workshop on 13th March in London and it's being run by the man who has written Mindfulness for Dummies (which I haven't read yet but has received lots of positive reviews on Amazon).
Details of the workshop can be found on the following website www.alternatives.org.uk
