exciting new life as an atheist

Now that I have been reliably informed that God doesn't exist I should like to know what I can do to fill my time as an atheist.

How do atheists spend their day and what activities do they enjoy partaking in?

Will it involve getting rid of the chickens and how will previous friends at Church react when I tell them the bad news that God doesn't actually exist and that they need to spend their time doing something more worthwhile?

Tim Vine is another one. A proper Anglican God Squadder, he is. I don't think Jeremy is though.

UnquietDad · 04/01/2011 16:31

Actually I think Jezza is too.

The trouble is, so apparently is Rod Liddle.

I guess logically you should get the worst-behaving people in church because they know they need it most.

FellatioNelson · 05/01/2011 20:38

Well, quite. Some rather unbecoming and raucous types have clung to God in spite of everything, and Rod Liddle is a case in point, though I've never heard that before, ther have a been a few over the years.

Dermot O'Leary and Frank Skinner as well. Apparently. Though I can't see Dermot at mass every week, beacuse I don't think he has sinned much yet, whereas Frank is the perfect mid-life-crisis Catholic....

Actually badly behaving Christians can be quite good fun. Its the smug, holier than thou ones I can't stand! :o

I think you might be right! It's an interesting topic - are sinners hypocrites and cowards who cling to God, or are they fallible tryers ???

maktaitai · 07/01/2011 13:22

It's a difficult one. One the one hand, I think it's good when religious people are visibly fallible, provided that they admit it and don't try and hide their sins - Frank Skinner being a good example. But religious people who are highly, publicly fallible and apparently have no intention of trying to mend matters, but instead to rearrange things so that it seems they didn't sin after all - well, over to you, Mel Gibson.
