More prayers for all...

DutchOma · 12/11/2010 07:19

MrsC Bob and I always repeat that last verse in the (amended) King James version "Sufficient onto the day is the weevil thereof".
On the boyfront, have you read "How to speak so that kids will listen", or some such title? I read it when mine were out of teenage years, but wish I could have had it to deal with their challenging behaviour.

I have phoned the hospital this morning and they said he had a good night and slept really, really well, so praise God. I slept but had weird and wonderful dreams

pipplin · 12/11/2010 08:50

Morning all. Today is another day and I am determined to have positive thoughts today! Praying for everyone as I have read down the thread.
Im praying God is looking after our new bean. Hopefully it's a fighter and it's current accommodation is 5 star and we will grow and be healthy. I don't think I've ever felt so alone. So thank you for your lovely welcome.
Hope Friday is a better day for all.

MrsCadwallader · 12/11/2010 09:25

DO Thank you - no, I haven't read that book but do keep meaning to as so many people have recommended it to me! I must get hold of a copy! I also need to track down my copy of 'Raising Boys' - I have lent it to someone and cannot remember who Confused

I'm so glad Bob had a good night.

pipplin you are never alone :)

PositiveAttitude · 12/11/2010 09:31

Good to hear about Bob, DO.

Pipplin, welcome here and prayers for your bean!

Katsh - you have mede me feel very special, being stalked!! Yay!! I feel as if I have made it on MN and am not so boring!!! Grin Prayers for you.

Well, just needed to share something with you all, which has just made me more than a bit Shock Shock Shock. And I even put the phone down and said "stone the crows!!".
MIL has just phoned me to wish me well for tomorrow. She and I have a hate/hate relationship. We dont speak, we avoid each other like the plague and I have not stepped foot in their house for 10 years. She is very anti-Christian and has accused me of being the devil's spawn for encouraging DH to go to church. Wont discuss our faith at all, and refused to come to DHs baptism 10 years ago.
Anyway, she has just been asking about how my faith has helped me through this time. She said she recognised that it must be really important to me, and she thought there must be something in it, for me to rely on it at a time like this. She finished by saying that it works for some, but not for her. BUT this is a humungous step!!! I cant believe it. Shock I would say it is the best conversation we have had in over 19 years!! SOme nuts are hard to crack, but maybe she has a heart crack after all!! Wink

Feeling very calm today. Really not nervous. Probably wont be back until I ma out of hospital, so have a good weekend everyone and will pop back on when I get home.

DutchOma · 12/11/2010 10:12

Hallelujah that's all I can say PA

gingercurl · 12/11/2010 10:46

Praying for everyone as I read through.

Hello Pipplin and Katsh and welcome. I'd been lurking here for ages before I finally made myself known only a few weeks ago. Now I find myself dipping in and out a couple of times a day. Prayers for you both.

PA have been praying for you this week. God is with you in this. Interesting development with your MIL.

Thanks for the update DO. Keeping prayers going.

Praying for you and your son MrsC I have that book and have found it very useful. Another one that has helped me an awful lot is "When kids push your buttons" (or something similar). I find the two books sort of complement each other with one sort of giving the foundations for the other.

Ds is finding herself isolated at work now. People that she's been working with for over a decade, some of which she considered her friends, won't talk to her. Others are are turning against her and speculating/spreading lies about her.

Thanks for your prayers everyone. I don't know where anything is heading at the moment, so you may be right Tooblessed.

madhairday · 12/11/2010 11:47

That's brilliant PA :) Praying for you muchly at the moment, that you will experience God's peace and presence in a huge way over the next few days. xx

Hi Katsh - welcome.

Pipplin - God is with you, praying that you feel that and know you're not alone.

MrsC praying for you with your son. My 10 yr old dd is also v v challenging and been meaning to get the how to talk book.

I'm still feeling grotty with a cold but it's not developed to a chest infection so that's fantastic :)

CazandBelle · 12/11/2010 13:47

Hello all,

PA will be thinking and praying for you over the weekend.

DO Good to hear your DH has been moved onto another ward. I pray he continues to do well.

MrsC Thank you for that verse. It is so important to remember, and exactly what I need to remember right now.

Welcome to Pipplin Wishing you a gentle and safe 9 months.

Amber hope your social worker can offer you all the help you need.

Things here are okish. I've done 3 mornings in work this week. I'm shattered but I'm doing ok. Had a mini panic on the way to work Wednesday but have been ok since. I thought it was all going to move too slowly for me, but I obviously really need this slow return. And keeping with the decision for me going part-time (I had arranged to go back part time after my maternity leave, but was offered to keep my full time after Belle died, but decided to stick with our decision of part time anyway), was the right one. I think I'm a long way off coping with a full week of work.

DH is having his 2nd lumber puncture on Monday. Please keep him in your prayers.

Swaliswan · 12/11/2010 15:28

Hello All,

Please can I ask you all for some urgent prayer? I'm not well and haven't been for a while. I'm waiting to see an obstetrician and a gastroenterologist. In the meantime my GP won't treat me and I'm getting more poorly. I'm struggling to look after the children. I'm starting to get really desperate and feel like there is no where left to turn to for help. I'm also scared about the effect it may have on my pregnancy and don't want to get to a stage of being hospitalised to get any help and get better.

Sorry that I'm not bringing more positive news. DH is being fab though but we can't sustain me being this ill forever with the children to look after.

MaryBS · 12/11/2010 16:02

SS - praying (I think, prayer not coming easily).

Could also do with urgent prayer. More things than I can cope with at the moment. Something will have to give. The way I feel, it will be ministry. Can't pretend what I don't feel.

PositiveAttitude · 12/11/2010 16:02

Prayers for you SS. how far gone are you now?

madhairday · 12/11/2010 17:03

Praying lots for you SS and Mary

MrsCadwallader · 12/11/2010 17:35

Praying Mary and SS.

Also praying for PA for tomorrow.

TACP I keep meaning to ask how you are at the moment? Hope you are well.

jaffacakeaddict · 12/11/2010 19:44

There's so much happening to everyone on here at the moment. Praying for SS and Pipplin and your little ones. Prayers also for PA and DO and her husband. Also Amber and Caz.

DutchOma · 12/11/2010 20:01

Unfortunately Bob was not very good when I saw him this afternoon. He was no longer in the sideward, but on the main ward, a bay with six beds, noisy and hot as before. I don't want to do a lot of moaning, but please pray for a peaceful night for him. His version of events was slightly different from that of the nurse this morning.

Teaandcakeplease · 13/11/2010 08:12

Mrs C - I'm OK Smile Just spending too much time elsewhere on mumsnet Shock But I am lurking.

Teaandcakeplease · 13/11/2010 08:12

And praying. Sorry that's the most important part Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 13/11/2010 08:15

SS I'm so sorry to hear about your Crohn's disease flaring up Sad Are you 32 weeks now? When is your next appointment?

DutchOma · 13/11/2010 08:16

Praying especially for PositiveAttitude, Amber and Mary
And all others in need of knowing that "underneath are the everlasting arms"

Teaandcakeplease · 13/11/2010 08:47

Mrs C The book DO mentioned is very good I own it too Smile

TentativeSteps · 13/11/2010 09:35

Hmmmm I am slightly nervous about this so have namechanged. I was brought up as a Christian and lost my faith about 8 years ago. Every now and then I get an urge to go back to it, but I'm nervous about it. Was brought up in a very strict household (and not very nurturing - lots of isses that made it difficult for my parents) where some of the ridiculous rules were just my parents personal fears which were dressed up as Christianity.

I then spent years gaining approval by being one of the "inner sanctum" (as I call it) at church, leading music, prayer groups etc. But now I recoil from this kind of environment because it feels fake, intense and disconnected from the real world.

I'd like to have a faith again. But there's something getting in the way. I think I believe in a loving God and Jesus and the cross being the way to salvation (I have also had years of theology training all through my teenage years, I feel like I know it all - at least in my head) - but don't want to just want to believe it, if that makes sense.

I can't talk to my family about it because it feels too wierd. Also, I don't have a church to go to anymore, because I'm nervous that I can't commit so don't want to just pop up to my old one and then disappear again.

Would you lovely people mind adding a prayer for me?

DutchOma · 13/11/2010 09:36

We need to unite in prayer. There is so much trouble about that I am sure this is a spiritual attack. I don't say that lightly.
One thing I have learned is that I may not be able to pray, but praise is an act of the will. "I WILL praise the Lord and I will NOT forget any of his benefits.

madhairday · 13/11/2010 10:53

DO I think that you are right. It does seem like there is a lot going on more than usual. Was reading this last night:

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (2 Cor 4)

Just sometimes need to think outside all the rubbish and look to what we are hoping for in the end.

Hi TentativeSteps Of course I'll pray for you. So glad you've felt able to come and ask for this here. If you want to talk things through we're here.

PA especially praying for you today although you've probably set off by now. xx

Hope everyone else ok...praying.

TentativeSteps · 13/11/2010 10:56
