Yoga - Tips and Advice for Beginner Please

Hello,
I have just started yoga as I have been told that it is very good for your mind as well as your body - and my mind could certainly do with some help and perspective right now as in middle of divorce!
As always, time is limited and although I manage to make it to one class a week I have started taping yoga programmes off Body in Balance. I find these really good but although I try to pick a time when my two girls are quiet and my tummy empty I am ALWAYS being interrupted. Does this matter? It means I have to pause the programme, go get some juice, take the little one to the toilet, etc, before I can carry on. Are all the good effects being diminshed? I feel if I wait until too late in the evning I will either be full after dinner or too tired to do anyting. I have tried getting up before the girls awake but even at 6.25 this morning my 2 year old kept climbing on me!!!
While I am posting and picking brains - does anyone know of a good but inexpensive yoga retreat for a weekend here in UK or abroad in New Year? I am based in Bridgend if anyone knows of sone good classes or breaks.
Thanks so much
Carole

Just wanted to answer your post Cd. I've just started going to yoga classes three weeks ago, and I'm finding them very gentle and soothing. I tried a couple of DVD's before finding a class but they didn't seem to get the right flow.
No idea regarding retreats but I'm sure they'll come up a plenty if you google it. Do you have sure start in your area? Some areas offer yoga for parents with creche facilities for mothers, might be worth asking your health visitor?

Hi
I think Taraloka - a buddhist retreat centre in SHropshire- has yoga and meditation weekends. Google " Taraloka" and have a look at their website. I've never been there but have it on good authority that it's wonderful.
It may be worth having a look at other Buddhist retreat centres as they will probably be inexpensive. Sorry to hear about your divorce but hope you're ok.

Best wishes
WW

Also have a look at Glenthorne Quaker guest house in Lake District they do courses and may have yoga weekends. It's a wonderful place.

sivananda yoga run easter and august retreats at gaunts house in dorset - they offer classes for beginners, plus breathing, meditation and chanting - it is beautiful

Also, mandala yoga ashram in wales runs retreats throughout the year, also very authentic...
