Hi,

Does anyone know how much should be given to the priest/church as a donation for celebrating a baptism?
thank you.

We gave £30, I asked a friend who'd had a baptism earlier in the year and she said that was about right.

What are you nervous about getting wrong, jaabaar? Is it you or a dc who is being baptised?

Are you just Sad about being nervous?

You don't pay for baptism, although you can buy certificates. If you are a regular churchgoer, then you just include it in your normal giving. If you are a guest of the church, you should not be expected to pay for their ministries.

Basically, there are no rules - give as much as you can.

Congratulations on your baptism :) Are you giving a testimony?

Our church "recommends" a donation of £30 to help cover all their costs, but it's up to you how much you actually give.

Look at what you've got and then give whatever you are comfortable with within that. It should be relative to you - so if you are a squillionaire you could do more and if you've only got £30 till the end of the week then £5 would be more than enough.
You won't do anything wrong - baptism is just about you (or the person being baptised) and God. God won't mind if you trip up or drop something. If He can forgive the sins of the world, he can deal with our frailty and mistakes. Grin
