Are there any Quakers among us? Would like to learn more about the Quakers.

NoahAndTheWhale - like you I also get occassinal feelings about Quakerism too. In fact spent quiet a bit of tme reseaching it. I found that in the US it is a quite different thing to what it is in the UK.

My main feeling for it is that I am against organised religion and not attracted to conventional thinking about 'God' but strongly believe that human society needs to adopt a better personal moral code. The boom of the last decade, the credit crunch and the rampant consumer behaviour is an example of the kind of World that Quakerism would reject.

bumpybecky - I was brought up a Methodist and also find going to churches (especially Catholic) a very uncomfortable experience. I suspect that is why I am attracted to Quakerism.

Thanks Cockney. When I went in the past, the children were in a different room until the last 10 mins or so, when they came in with a couple of adults who must have been running a separate session for them. I would be going on my own so it might be quite tricky. Think I will ring/email and find out as would love to go again.

I am very interested in the Quakers! DH (who is Catholic) has agreed to go with me to a meeting if we can find one less than an hour's drive away. No luck so far!

The babies usually play on a mat for the first fifteen minutes...then the little ones usually go out of the meeting. But if the baby is asleep/calm/quiet - I can't see any problem. Why not come along?

Another one here who attended Saffron Walden summer schools.
I was bought up a Quaker and also had a Quaker education.
Don't worry about taking children and babies, Friends tend to take it all in their stride.
