Cats and babies

Hi

Hoping I'm putting this in the right place! Our first baby is due in 5 weeks and we have a very spoiled cat. We want to get a cat net for the cradle and cot, and I was just wondering whether anyone has used this from John Lewis? www.johnlewis.com/230415687/Product.aspx

I can't go and have a look at it as we moved to Australia five months ago! I'm interested in how it fits in the cot, whether it is 'adjustible' to fit into a cradle, and exactly how it works.

The only version I've found in Australia costs 3-4 times as much (www.babycribsafetynet.com/). We are going to call John Lewis to ask them about dimensions etc but I thought I'd see whether anyone here has any experience with this too.

Thank you!

I just used an insect net to cover the cot\pram when DD was in it. Just the look of it was enough to stop our baby loving cat from even trying to get in. The insect net had elastic edges so fitted anything.
Mine was the mothercare insect net.

I haven't been able to follow the link you gave but I have used a cat net for moses basket and a much larger one for cot, both by John Lewis, and they have kept my three dc away from my two lovely cats just fine. The moses basket one just tucks around and under the basket, but with the "hood" up it is at such an angle that the cats never attempted to climb on it. The ot one ties to the legs, under the base of the cot, and has held fine. I did once find one cat asleep at the head end of the cot, suspended on the cat net, whilst the baby slept underneath, albeit right at the other end, foot to end. Having said all of that, despite that one slip, I have always made sure when I put the baby down to sleep, I have checked the room for cats, and made the room as cat proof as possible. Good luck with finding a system that works for you, and good luck with the baby
