Does anyone have any experience of these dogs?

Are they good with children and other dogs?

I have two clients with them. They both seem very steady dogs, but the hair and the slobber not for me in that respect.

They do require huge amounts of socialisation and can be quite stubborn dogs which can be a handful in such a large dog. If not probably trained from an early age they can have behavioural difficulties.

I adore all dogs but this is one I could not live with. The slobber goes everywhere - they shake their heads and the slobber covers the ceiling to all four walls of the room they are in - not for me. I had lunch with a client who owned one and could not eat my lunch as it was covered in friendly dog slobber as the dog was about 6ft from me and tilted his head. The client didn't mind though and loved his dog to bits.

They are a generally a pretty steady temprament but do as mentioned above need a lot of socialisation as they can be over protective.

I do not really like giving generalisations (having just done that) but this breed will require extra time from the owner to get it comfortable with children and new experiences.

I think I have repeated myself sorry sent from iphone and got interrupted!

I met two in the park this morning and both had to be summoned and restrained when other dogs passed.

These are one of the latest breeds to be exploited by puppy farmers and BY/pet breeders. This means there are a lot of badly bred ones with poor temprements and health out there. Good breeders of them are few and far between from what I know.

oh ok thanks for the comments everyone - its a distant family member who is breeding them.

I dont like the idea of slobber so maybe not the dog for me!

We have one and he's fab!

The drool is horrid but he tends to only do it after eating or drinking so I quickly give his mouth a wipe with kitchen towel before he gets a chance to dribble on anything.

They're a very bright dog and our dog trainer has sent us packing after just two sessions of the ten that we booked as he's picked everything up extremely quickly.

The only negative I can think of, apart from the drool, is that they're not terribly energetic dogs so wouldn't suit someone who enjoyed walking for hours.
