hi

I have just got 2 baby rabbits and am a bit worried i am doing the wrong things with their food!
i've kept rabbits before, and remmeber the vet telling me i should ensure a constant supply of food
now, my old rabbit gor fed twice a day, never emtpied his bowl, all fine

but these 2 are ravenous! they've cleared their bowl twice today already. they're on the "nugget" type food and also have lots of fresh hay available

i've just been reading online and found one site saying that actually grass (hay) is really the best diet and should be their main food, supplemented by a nugget type and fresh food.

so, am I ok to leave their bowl empty overnight? i am worried i'll under/over feed them

Grass or hay is the best diet and this is were 90% of there food should come from. 10% should be from the nuggets. It is the grass or hay that should be constantly avaliable. This is important to give the correct calcium : phosphorus that helps to prevent dental problems (as studied by Frances Harcourt Brown).
My rabbits (may they rest in peace - brutal murder ) I gave nuggets to twice daily and constantly topped up their hay. They preferred the dandelion and camomile hay best.
