Is this pup being illtreated?

A neighbour has recently got a staffie pup, looks to be around 5-6 months old I reckon and it's white all over but underneath it's belly and down the sides and on it's legs it has a yellow tinge - is this normal or is the pup being left to sit in it's own urine or something?

I don't know, but despite being bathed regularly and having clean bedding, my dog often has a yellowish tinge to his under carriage. He is a long haired dog though, so I have just presumed it was because of that.

How does the dog look otherwise?

OK I think, I can't say I know much about dogs/the breed but he's not skinny and seems very chirpy when he's in the garden.

Is he out in the garden a lot? Staffies love people and shouldn't be left alone too long.

AvadaKedavra · 17/06/2010 10:36

I've only seen him out a couple of times, they've only just got him in the last 2 weeks I think it must have been.

Its six and two threes. Yes, it could be urine but then again...

Keep an eye on him and perhaps get chatting to the neighbours over the fence?

Lovely dog, how old, whats his name, is he a rescue, that sort of thing. It might enlighten you as to how he's viewed and treated.

Could it be coloured from lying on the grass?

CountryGirl2007 · 17/06/2010 15:17

Not sure what it could be tbh, besides the breeds that are prone to staining like westies and bichons I haven't seen a stained shorthaired dog. The fact that it isn't always out in the garden could be a good thing though, i.e. it's inside as part of the family but it does still need plenty of outdoor time and exersize, do you know if they exersize it at all?

Sounds like saliva staining - dogs that lick a lot can change white coloured fur yellow and no end of washing gets it out. Sounds most likely he has a skin issues going on to me.

Will do, thanks for advice
