Not entirely sure when my cat is due - was in season around 15th april so must be due any day now. What are the early signs of immienent labour so i can isolate her from my other cat, kids etc.

She will seek out any quiet, secluded, warm spot so provide one for her out of the way of others. As a child, I remember my cat having kittens in the airing cupboard!

She should start producing a little milk, she may also become restless and she may try and make a "nest".

Please make sure you get her spayed when her kittens are weaned and rehome the kittens, especially any females, with a spaying contract to prevent unwanted kittens being born. Rescues are absolutly stuffed with kittens at this time of year.

Thats the prob - one of my old cats had them on my bed and another insisted on wandering around after me dropping as she went. This one hates being on her own so wanted to isolate her for shortest period of time pos. She is huge, very big nipples but not looking like nesting. Fairly sure that the 9 wks will be up on fri.

Can you keep her in with a litter tray in the same room, utility room, maybe?

We recently had a stray/lost cat move in and we created a cosy little nest for her in our back porch thingy, which she took to right away. The gestation period is 60-65 days.

We looked on loads of websites that had handy tips on the signs of labour (lack of appetite, clinginess) but tbh she didn't really do any of them. She was out chasing pigeons the day before she went into labour.

We knew it was near her time, just because she had been pregnant for ages. DP went in to see her (she had been sleeping) and noticed her "plug" coming out, as they say. Bit like the show that we get in labour. And then that was it, first kitten out 20 mins later followed by three more at half hourly intervals. No mess, no fuss, she cleaned them up and got them feeding all be herself and ate everything else that came out of her.

I will always remember the loud purring she did just before she gave birth each time, that was the main "sign".

It was amazing, i sat and watched the whole thing last bank Holiday Monday. it was better than Corrie. She is such a good mummy.

We are looking after mum and babies until we can get them all rehomed. She can be neutered after kittens have weaned, but she can get pregnant again two weeks after - so do watch out. HTH

She's in the bathhroom with other cat at the mom as she doesn't like being shut in on her own. Not sure they should be togethre when she's actually having them, thats all. Not really got anywhere else to seperate them. They are house cats but she manage to slip out,v v briefly! She wasn't even calling at the time! Other cat has been spayed but hadn't got this one done yet.

Thanks Puppymonkey. Have had kittens before - least i've had cats have kittens! They went to stud tho so was a bit more sure of the dates. She is obviously going to be one that doesn't change her behaviour much.

I think she will find her own space then. Under your bed is a fair bet. Our other cat didn't likle the kittens at all, she hissed massively at them - so we have kept them all separate. Just keep her in one room with food and litter and the other cats well away in another room.

our cat had kittens a few weeks ago and used the cardboard box I'd put into the quiet spare room for her. by the time I'd realised she was in labour she'd had all 5 babies! now we have to find homes and its really hard because I'm so attached to them all!! we have kept our other 3 adult cats away - cant' trust them or at least don't want to risk it.
one day in particular to many people had a nose at the kittens and mum decided to lift them all and hide them - under our bed! took ages to suss where they were!
