Just wondering I always liked lizards but hate crickets.

Are Iguanas too big/tempremental?

Desert Iguanas are much smaller/easier to handle, but there isn't as much info about on their care and some people think they are primarily veggie, others feed them some insects but a primarily veggie diet. They can be a bit shy and aren't that hardy, so need careful care, but if you get the set up etc right they should be OK. Plus, I am not sure many, if any are truly captive bred yet, so many in the exotics trade are CF/WC still. It is a while since I kept them though, so there may be more CB available now.

I have always wanted a iguana but I have heard that they grow to six feet and are funny around a woman's time of the month. I will look into the desert iguana thanks. My uncles has always kept them and tarantula's so I know a little and he would help me out with the rest.

Can I ask what is CF/WC.

'funny around a woman's time of the month'... . sorry... Green Iguanas can get up to 6ft or slightly bigger and can be tempremental, males especially, but it seems ot bve equally directed at most people, regardless of the time of the month... They also need HUGE enclosures, ideally room sized.

Desert Iggies are much smaller and easier n terms of handling, but not so robust.

CF means captive farmed, either eggs are collected from the wild and hatched in captivity or gravid females are collected from the wild and lay their eggs in a 'farm' in their original habitat.

WC means the actual animal is caught fromt he wild, usually as a juvenile but sometimes as adults. These animals do not always adjust to captivity well and are far more likely to carry parasites.

I see thanks I don't think I would want a WC I may look and see about a CB desert iguana. I won't be for a couple of years yet as need to do a lot of research, and didn't know in to what area I should be looking.

Thanks I had heard of the need for a room sized enclosure which is mostly the reason I discounted a green iguana.

Also my uncle has taken a lot in where the owners did not expect them to get so big or have burned themselves on the wrong lamp.
