Have a medium sized kong and would appreciate some ideas as to what is safe and good to use inside it for a 9 week old puppy.

Off to bed now

Thanks in advance

Hi
I was advised at pets at home that peanut butter or soft cheese (phillidelphia) are good to put with any size treats (some that barely fit in and some that are tiny and you can fit loads in) a mixture is good. My 1 yr old springer loves the peanut butter/phillidelphia because it means he can focus more on trying to get the flipping thing out of the toy and into his mouth I use pets at homes 50p/£1 bags of treats which provides a good mixture. You prob won't be able to use these on puppy but if you have a pets at home near you, you'll be able to see what I mean by mixture if you pop in.
Hope this helps.

As above, perfect suggestions, then pop it in the freezer, it takes much longer for the 'filling' to be extracted and it very good for teething puppies.

Another good way to fill, is just take a portion of the days food (presuming you are using a dry complete) mixed with a little good quality 'wet' food and then, again, frozen.

One (or sometimes two) of my puppy's kibble meals is served a la kong. I soak it and then ram it it so it takes a good while for her to get it out. I did freeze them but it took her SO long to get the frozen squished kibble out (like nearly 2 hours) I felt a bit mean. It probaly takes her half an hour to get just the standard rammed food out of two kongs (I have the large ones).

I put peanut butter in mine. Only trouble is I must have the only dog in the world not interested in toys!! Lol

She licked the top layer of the peanut butter then just gave up on it. Then it was sooooo messy to try to clean it!! Lol

In hot weather (if we ever get any!) I make stock with a chicken carcase and after plugging the end of the Kong with soft cheese and propping it up on a big square of clingfilm I pour the cooled stock into it. Wrap it up carefully and prop it upright in the freezer and hey presto, dog lollies

We made chicken stock dog lollies in one of those lolly moulds for our dog, OhExpletive - the Kong didn't occur to me.
