rehoming my cats?

A few years ago by beloved cat died, and although prior to this I swore I'd not replace her, I did.

I work FT so got 2 (pedigree) cats (brother and sister - so had them neutered). They are 36 months old now and totally adorable; little box trained, on dry food, don't hiss, scratch, bite etc, and often come when they are called.

However, I have so little time due to being a lone parent with a very demanding job, and teenage lads, that I'm finding them a real chore at the moment (totally pathetic because cat chores probably only takes up maybe an hour or so a week - mostly vacuuming and litter box emptying).

I'm seriously thinking about rehoming them (together) but am so worried they might go to someone who didn't look after them properly; if they ever got hurt or abused I'd feel so responsible.

Anyone got any thoughts - seems wrong just to take them to a rehoming centre as if I didn't really care?

I think you may struggle to find a re-homing centre that will take them. Most places are full to capacity all of the time and even if you did the chances of them being re-homed together are slim.

Why not advertise them in your local veterinary surgeries. As they are pedigree cats they may be more desirable than the average moggy. Also, if someone has to part with cash for them then it's obvious that they really want them.

I'll be honest with you though, I can't see how you can find them a chore. Perhaps you've just got a lot a lot on your plate at the moment so are feeling a bit overwhelmed. Don't rush into re-homing them as you might regret it in a few weeks.

Are there any breed specific rescues? Often you fing rescues dedicated to rehoming one particular breed, they may be a place to start if you can find one for their breed?

I agree with Amandoh though about not rushing into it. How long have you been considering rehoming them for?

I've got pedigrees that we rehomed with me via their cat club site. The current ones are a brother & sister that I took on when they were 2 (their first ownner was going to have to starting moving around the world every 6 months).

I would def contact the breeders association and take it from there.

Personally I never wanted to go through the kitten stage!

I agree with the other posters about the breeders association. What breed are they? (just being nosey)
