Hi

I live in Brisbane and I have a Golden Retriever who appears to be fit and healthy and full of beans.
We have recently gone through the training to become a Delta team (Like PAT dogs)
Over here our dogs have to have some pathology tests before we are allowed to visit hospitals.
Now I have just received our results and she is all clear apart from Isospora oocysts.
Am I right in thinking that this is a type of coccydiosis?? If so how do we go about getting rid of it and can it be transferred to us?
She has no symptoms of illness and I am quite suprised by the result.
Sorry for the questions, I am hoping to catch one of the vets who get on here if poss.
I know I need to phone mine but they are closed for the night.
We did have a foster Pup from the RSPCA recently and she did have a bout of diarrhoea while she was here and we had foster kittens before that.
I hope these havnt brought it in!!
I am just worried that it might affect the kids.
Also the dog is just as much one of us as the dd's.
Thanks for reading.

I attended the BSAVA conference a few weeks ago and there was quite a bit of discussion in one of the session about whether we should treat clinically normal animals with this and giardia. However, I'm afraid no agreement was reached. What was said is if the animal is in contact with immunocompromised people ie cancer treatment or HIV\AIDs we should treat the pet as these are the people likely to be affected not fit healthy adults or children.
Personally I have treated pups with diarrhoea for this and have used panacur as well as so other things.
