Fleas don't live on the cat, they live in your home, so will be in the carpet etc. Not sure about treatment - depends on the age of the kitten I think

I have wood flooring but there are fleas on her.

of course they're not born with fleas!

You can use frontline from 8 weeks or once they are over 1kg in weight.

They're not born with them. How would fleas get inside the mother cat's womb?

arsesandoldlace · 15/05/2010 12:50

Use a mix of a few drops euacalyptus and citronella oils diluted in water.

Spray this onto a tissue and wipe her all over with it, especially behind her neck and in her groin and 'armpits'.

It will keep the fleas off until she's big enough to frontline.

You can buy kitten collars which have the same ingredients in but it's better if you make your own and use it twice a week.

And no, they're not born with fleas! They might catch them at birth from their mothers though.

eucalyptus

Aren't you confusing fleas with worms. Don't know about cats, but I read that most dogs are born with worms.

I don't mean this in a nasty way, but from your posts it sounds like you don't know much about kitten care at all. They are not born with fleas, and if she does have fleas you can't just medicate her yourself with something from the supermarket or pet shop, especially as the last time you posted you didn't even know her exact age (or whether she was a 'she')!. The best thing to do is call the person you bought her off, get her exact date of birth, and then take her to the vet for some proper advice. Ideally she should have been taken to the vet within a day or two of you picking her up, especially as she is so young. She was too young to be taken from her mother in the first place, probably has worms (which can easily be fatal), and now you suspect she may have fleas. So please take her to the vet on Monday or this could all end up going horribly wrong.

I do know about kitten care but i have always had kittens which were older. I have already booked an appt for her for Tuesday thanks and had done earlier.

I have bought a flea tablet treatment after speaking to the vet which is for use on kittens and cats from four weeks.
