Recovery period for a neutered dog

I plan to get my dog neutered later this month. He is 7 months old.
How long do you think it will take him to recovery?
We are currently attending puppy classes, we have 3 classes left and I think the last class may fall on the weekend after his op (probably 4 days after op)
Would he be able to attend the class or would that a definite no? (as he will still have the stitches in)

I am trying to fit the op in around work so that he will be constantly supervised between having the op and having the stitches removed around 10 days later.

I am sure its the right thing to get him neutered. Just a case of picking the best time now.

I used to vet nurse before having my son and dogs are amazingly quick at getting back on their feet after an operation. He will be a bit groggy on the first day of you collecting him from the vets and probably a little quieter than usual that evening. By the next day it is likely that he won't show any signs of having had an op! Obviously all dogs are different, different breeds, different temperaments etc but more often than not they have a quick recovery.

I would probably advise you avoid the puppy class that week though as other puppies in the class will be sniffing round him and he might get a bit ansy having the stitches in, sometimes they can be quite defensive of them.

Please please please ensure you use a Buster Collar whilst the stitches are in. They have a tendancy to lick and will often pull the stitches out and then it's another trip back to the vets!

Thanks for that info.
I'm a bit gutted to have to miss a puppy class as they have been paid for upfront. But his health will always come first.

I will phone the vets tomorrow and get him booked in. Poor pup, he has no idea whats coming
