Cat advice needed, after litter

Hello,

I have replied an ad on Gumtree to adopt a cat, everything is going well until now when I start having some doubt about the honesty of the person,

Basically she has to re-home her cat because her new landlord won't accept animals.

We exchanged a few emails and after we agreed on a date for me to come and see the cat she mentioned that the cat had a litter recently and that the kitten have left 3 weeks ago, and that the cat's breast are currently drying out.

Do you know if it requires any special treatment?

If that's completely true, it seems a bit strange.

Kittens shouldn't be rehomed until they're about 8 weeks old and they normally wean themselves between 4 and 6 weeks. Cat shelters tend to have the mum neutered when the kits are 6/7 weeks old. By the time that the kittens have been rehomed for 3 weeks, she definitely wouldn't still have her milk. She might still have quite visible nipples, which isn't the same thing.

Btw, if you do have doubts, go to your local shelter. They will have loads of nice cats that would love a good home.

Thanks for the reply,

I just wanted to check on here before coming back to the lady, as I have never had a cat who had a litter and I did find it a bit odd that her breast where still drying out.

I read it again and it definitely says "her breast are still drying out but apart from that she is fine" and " she will need another cat with her as she just finished being a mum 3 weeks ago" and later on she said " as I said before her kittens left us 3 weeks ago".

I think you are right, a nearby rescue centre will be much safer to adopt from as they carry health checks on the cats before putting them up for adoption!
