Not much else to say really! His name is Percy, he is 10 weeks old, from a litter of 10 , black lab, golden poodle, he is the smallest of the litter and is permanently attached to my feet . We only collected him yesterday and apart from a 45 minute whine at night in his crate, he has been fabulous. So placid and docile. Wonderful temperament - quite important with an 11 yr old DS, 7 yr old DD and a 4 month old DD! Already house training with great success. Lots of tsking for getting him to stop humping and he just seems to know that the baby is not a toy. I have introduced them, but keep her up high (pushchair etc) and he just wants to settle by my feet or the wheels of the buggy.

I'm quite smitten!

Professional puppy trainer arrives tomorrow morning so we get everything right from the start.

Meant to say, the ouch/yelp works well for our dog too - dog language for back off/I've had enough

Its a bit like motherhood really ......... you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't

Ha ha - don't I just know that one!

Yes, I read the OUCH technique today and instructed the kids on the way home to do just that. Didn't work the first 2 times - he just kept chasing the feet .

However, positive steps is he is listening to me more tonight. I've said LEAVE IT in a strong (not shouty) tone a couple of times for things and he has stopped, walked towards me and sat down . Light at the end of the tunnel already I think.

Oh we just got a little black lab shes 7 weeks, and very docile, our lab is 12 years old so I trained him, without the help of 3 children,
can't even remember what I did, but he's a brilliant dog, hope it all comes back to me!

(btw does anyone know what a schodoodle is? seen one advertised when we were looking for pup.........must go google)

Can'tthink, also the walking out of the room for a few minutes works with Phoebe and seems to break the frantic mood. Only thing is, you all have to be on board, I'm finding. Kids and I will do it but OH gets v pissed off and refuses to move if he's watching tv or something.

Oxo - my DH would be exactly the same as your OH!

Just had first outing. Don't know why I bothered with the clicker and treats. He soooooo didn't deserve any and wasnt interested when I tried to get him to heel . What an exciting time for a little pup. Note to self, next time take flask of cold water and bowl, even if it is a 5 minute walk around the block - he was beside himself .

Ha! Our puppy is great at all the tricks indoors but the minute she hits outside, you would think she had never seen a clicker I'm telling myself its just practice and am taking the clicker and treats with me on one of the 2 little walks we do every day. There are so many distractions on the park. I also need to remember the water
