Right I have been dubious about the local pet store for a while now. Because their fish are always overcrowded and when I have bought them and tested the levels they are full of nitrates nitrites and ammonia.

The other day I spotted a fish had had baby's and the other fish were eating them so I told the owner so he could separate them and he said I know they have them all the time.

I let this slide because I know a lot of shops don't really care that well for their fish.

But the other day a lady went in asked for two gps and the man said he only had one she said oh but your supposed to buy two and he said no you can buy one it will be fine which I recently heard on here is v bad.

The lizards and tarantula's water bowls are always empty.

Am I being fussy if not what can I do about it.

I'm not sure what you can do, but it's definitely wrong. There must be a governing body for pet shops, inspectors etc.

Maybe someone will know.

I think you can contact the RSPCA but I am not sure - your local authority perhaps?

Local council (assuming you're in England). They are the licensing body for pet shops. Also the RSPCA- it will help if you get others to complain to them too, using a local address when asked or anonymously. I'm happy to make a call of complaint if you wish to publish details of the shop.

I know lots of people nearby who can complain as loads have moaned about buying and spending weeks nursing them back to health if they are lucky so I will get them together and call the RSPCA thanks girls. It has really been upsetting me and not knowing what to do.

yes local council/rspca.

Tbh though, fish eating baby fish is completely normal, in fact the alternative is that the tanks will become over populated and could lead to increased nitrate/nitrite etc which is detremental to the fish. But the rest sounds unacceptable.
