Got my new guineas Biggie and 2 Patch home today, put them in the hutch and have left them alone, but they haven't actually moved from the corner. How long do they usually remain frozen with fear? Feel sorry for them

Quite normal. Don't worry if they don't seem to eat or drink much either. I thought ours were on hunger strike until I noticed the copious quantity of poos.

They can take quite a long time to get used to new places and people.

Oh good. I knew they'd be a bit nervy but wasn't expecting them to freeze. Thanks

New little piggies can be very skittish - they may not have had much handling and they have been taken away from their little piggy friends to a new place so it's quite a trauma.

Just give them loads and loads of hay so that they can bury under, and leave them in as quiet place as possible for a bit, keeping handling to a minimum.

They may not appear to be eating, but they will be nibbling hay. They may not be able to resist tasty fresh treats as well!

In a day or so they will have adjusted and be far more relaxed - but if they haven't been handled much be careful as skittish baby piggies can suddenly bolt and are very, very fast!

They are still in the corner this morning but have pooed so must have moved at some point!
They are so sweet aren't they? Biggie is white and grey with blue eyes and 2 Patch is white with 2 grey ears and red eyes. They are so sweet!!

Try covering the open part of their cage/hutch with a towel or blanket and they should become a lot more active - in the wild they'd naturally avoid open spaces because of birds, so they can be quite fearful until they get used to their new home and realise nothing can get in to hurt them! Those plastic igloos you can get from PAH make great hidey holes, we got one for ours and she was never out of the thing!
