Our lovely kitten/cat, is a wuss.

She has started to go out more recently, and tbh I have been trying to put the litter tray outside to encourage her. To no avail, so today i have got rid of it completely. I thougt, maybe if she doesn't see it anymore, she will now go when she is out, in the garden.

I know this will take time for her to understand. BUT as far as i can tel, she hasn't gone, her belly is enormous. I keep putting her out. I know if the tray was here, she would just wait till i broughtit inside so she go inside again.

Also, not sure what's going to happen tonight, she normally sleeps in the kitchen. I'm going to have to keep a window open i guess? Trouble is i only have large windows, not one of those little top ones.

My other cat goes whenshe is out, always has, and has never messed.

Sure she's not pregnant?

BelleDameSansMerci · 31/03/2010 22:00

Just put the litter tray back for now - poor thing!

feetheart · 31/03/2010 22:02

Both of ours are 10mths and refuse to use anything but the litter tray - they spend hours outside, come in for a pee then disappear again. Tis most annoying but at least I know they aren't upsetting the neighbours by pooing in their gardens

piratecat · 31/03/2010 22:04

no i can't put it back, it's defeating the object, isn't it? I just worry the longer i put off this going outside for wee's the worse it will get? or am i totally wrong?

no she's not pg i had her done 3 months back.

hmm, now i feel a bit bad. thing is she does a poo and about half the litter ends up in the kitchen, she's very fastidious!!! I guess garden grass might be too prickly?

I have house cats (not through choice but too complicated to explain really) and I've put a screen around their tray as the litter spread is phenomonal!

hennipenni · 31/03/2010 22:45

try digging/scattering some of her used litter in the garden where you would like her to go.

frostyfingers · 01/04/2010 11:17

As Henni said - we put the tray outside the door, then moved it further away until it got to the suitable place that we like them to use.

To be fair, would you want to go out and widdle/poo in this weather, when the alternative is in the nice dry house.....?

i can't believe it. Ok i put both cats out last night, but left kitchen window open. Showed young puss how to get in and out.

Anyway. Went out this morning, came back and fed them, then she started scratching around where her litter tray used to be (I'd bleached/ cleaned area and put all their food and water there to disasscociate it )

So popped her out, and she only went and had a pooo, on the lawn!! I was so proud. made huge fuss of her.

happy days!! I am more than happy to poop scoop the lawn. Maybe when she gets more bold she will go in the trees over the fence?
