She's 6 months old and we've had her 3 weeks. She went out yesterday and stayed in the garden for about 20 mins and then came in. This morning she was out for a bit longer but stayed in garden and then came in.

Tonight she shot out through door and has disappeared into the night. I didn't want her out in the dark and 3 hours later there is no sign of her, I've been calling and calling for her.

Will she find her way back?

Try not to worry too much. Some cats go missing for days and then reappear, hungry!
She's probably having a fine old time exploring and meeting other night owl felines.

On a practical note... Keep calling her and leave a light on in the room that backs onto your garden so that your garden is easy for her to find. When you call her you could also try rattling your keys or making some other familiar noise that she might recognise.

Hope she comes back soon.

Thanks, good idea about keeping the light on - will do that. I've been rattling the cat biscuits.

Yes, I've done that in the past. Shook the box of cat crunchies whilst shouting "Mrs Cat. Meaties!"

It works though.

We took in a stray that had obviously wandered from his previous home and got lost, (he was only about 9 months old). We kept him in for a couple of weeks and not long after we started letting him out he went missing.

At the back of our house is a stream and a little path, some greenery between housing estates and I spent 2 days walking down there and the estate calling him and asking people. The third day I went down the path calling him, no answer. I went home and opened the back door (our back garden backs onto the path) and called him and he came jumping over the back fence. He was so pleased to see me he didn't leave my side for about a week!

So make sure you keep calling for her and open your door and call for her. I think that my cat was nearby but wouldn't actually come up to me in the lane but would come when called from the garden, (if that makes sense).

She was sat by the back door this morning. Don't think she's quite worked out the catflap yet even though I've shoved her through it a few times.

That's good news stripey. I was wondering if she had reappeared.

Yes, great news. Glad she's home.
