It's time to let her go

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I'm going to have to have my beautiful old girl put to sleep this week.
She's a 15 year old whippet greyhound cross I've had since she was 12 weeks old. But her back legs are going very badly now. She can't get up very well and falls down a lot, can't get up and starts to panic. She's also having lots of 'accidents'. She doesn't look happy any more even though she's still eating well (and pinching biscuits!).
I am devastated & heartbroken but know it's for the best.
DS will be distraught as he absolutely dotes on her .
My poor, poor girl

Awwwwww

Don't beat yourself up - no need to feel guilty. It's just like loving a dc2: your love for the newcomer doesn't diminish your love for the first one.

Oh Iklboo - just read through this thread. I know it won't help at the moment but remember that she knew so much love and happiness with you and had a fabulous life as a result. Be proud of the care you gave her.

Enjoy your lovely kittens - they are so much fun at this stage.

So sorry. It's a horrible decision to make, esepcially when it's not that cut-and-dried. It leaves a hole afterwards. I hope the kittens help - they generally do.

Kittens are helping. Their epic 'fights' remind me of The Quiet Man . They've settled in well and came and fell asleep on us on Friday night and love cuddles
