He is so lovely at the moment - will he change?

He will almost certainly still be lovely. However, he will travel much less distance (so cross less roads) and fight less which will make him less likely to get hurt. Plus assuming he is still quite young he will not develop that lovely tom cat smell.

I got my 2 done last week. They were lovable loons when they went in and are just the same now.

I have two neutured males and it's hard to say exactly what will change ... they are both affectionate when they feel like it. One still gets quite frisky with my cushions and the other still enjoys a scrap with other cats that dare to come in his garden.

Our mog still stayed playful, affectionate, a great hunter and a terror to invading males, though he didn't go looking for trouble.

Aw yes i was wondering this too. We have a gorgeous boy who is 6 mnths, so the chop is imminent (those cute little pom poms will be no-more)

He doesn't wander far now though as it is. I wonder if he'll play a bit more gently afterwards. He gets a bit frisky and bites a bit when he plays atm. Dc, dh and I are all bearing battle scars.

No, he'll be just as friendly, just less likely to fight and wander etc.

Also, don't worry, it is an extremely simple operation, basically a small incision, out with the bits, a couple of stitches and done!

ah, the best cats are neutered toms. all my life we have had cats, while i was growing up... each tom cat and kitten that has been neutered (well, all of them eventually!)
once they've had the snip, ours all turned into silly jelly-baby cats that would let us cuddle them like babies.
ours definatley have all gone more affectionate and gentler since having the snip.
when im responsible enough (lol) for a cat, i will have a neutered tom!
dont worry, he'll be fine

I have one neutered tom snuggled up in my lap at the moment, and the other is just deciding, post-streeeeeetch, if he has the energy to play with DD and a pom pom on a stick. There's no way I wouldn't have had them done (not least because they were supposed to be indoor cats) but I was a bit concerned they might lose a bit of their personality. But they're still extremely silly, one is still very affectionate to everyone (the other just loves meeee ) and just generally lovely.

Oh, and you would never have thought they had had anything done to them, they were extremely bouncy when they came home from the vet.

My neutered boys are gorgeous, cuddly teddy bears!! a stark contrast from the 'entire' tom that terrorises our neighbourhood cats, wailing all night and coming through my cats flap to pee/spray up our kitchen units and furniture

like the others have said, the op is straight forward and mine were fine very soon after
