Does anyone have any experience of the PetRetreat scheme run by the RSPCA?

I posted this in Chat but someone suggested I post it in Pets, so if you think you're seeing double, don't worry, you're not!

The scheme offers short-term foster placements (up to 6 months) for pets where the owner is leaving a domestic abuse situation and going into a refuge.
I have an interview for a job helping to co-ordinate this scheme and wanted to get some more info about it.
Thanks.

No, I don't really know much about it. I have seen another charity advertising a similar job - Dogs trust maybe?

Very worthwhile though - must be a horrendous enough situation without having to worry about your dog too.

Would it be a managerial type role rather than a hands on fostering job?

Ah, thanks Bella. It's a job co-ordinating the scheme. Interview was today so fingers crossed!

Fingers crossed here too!

Let us know how you get on, please

Hi Bella, thanks. The interview went well, there was lots of nodding and agreeing with me, but I haven't heard anything yet, do that's a bit . We'll see. There's been other stuff going on lately and there would be some logistical problems if I get the job, so I won't be broken-hearted if I don't get it. Though if I don't, I'll probably decide I really wanted it! They said we'd know by the end of the week, so I'll let you know.

I didn't get it. Oh well. Part relief, part disappointment...

Oh - I'm sorry, Quink. Obviously wasn't meant to be

Are you going to keep looking for something similar?

Quink · 25/02/2010 20:59

Yes, probably. Though I've got rather used to my freedom but am frustrated by the lack of fulfilment in my life now all my children are at school at the same time. Ideally, I'd find a part-time job in an interesting role/organisation that was term-time only, but strangely, they don't seem to grow on trees!

Ah well, I'll keep looking for the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow...along with everyone else!
