My pup has been fed on JWB since we brought her home from the breeders about 5 months ago, she has always had runny poos. The vet recently gave us some pro-biotic powder which helped firm them up but we are now back to runny poos. Am thinking about changing her diet but not sure to what. Can anyone offer some good advice please.

Has the vet tested for giardia (a parasite) or campylobacter (an infection) which can both cause runny poos?

no, but I will speak to the vet tomorrow, she doesnt appear unwell, and the pro-biotic helped to make her poos firm. Its only now when she is no longer taking the pro-biotic that they have gone runny again.

Another prime cause of sloppy poos in pups is over-feeding, so check your amounts. Failing that, and assuming pup's worming is up to date, I'd pop a poo sample in to the vet.

Dry has always worked for our dog.

Ahhhh NatureDiet....

Which flavour of JWB do you feed him? You could find that switching the flavour might help - the lamb one is supposed to be better for more sensitive tums.

Definitely try the ND though, you can get single trays in pets at home so you don't have to buy a lot just to try it. Then once you've tried it you can become a fully fledged ND devotee and buy 360 trays in one go (or is that just me?!)

Like Bella I would suggest Poo sample to rule out parasites and infections. If that is normal I would change to a diet with a different protein and carbohydrate source so if you are feeding lamb and rice I would try something like white fish and potato.
I have had a few dogs who do realy well on the pro-biotics and then regress when they come off them regardless of the food fed, in that case 1 tablespoon of live yoghurt a day seems to help.

We feed ours The Original Davies Lamb and RIce for adult dogs. Not only is there poo firm it doesnt smell as much!

thanks everyone, I will certainly try the dried yoghurt and take a sample into vets. Will keep you posted
