Puss now seems to be doing his busines outside!! Just gone to sift litter tray and it's untouched. Last sifted last night and it's still smooth with no paw prints in it.

He's 6 months old and I thought I would be forever poopa scooping. DH is pretty sure he saw him doing something at the top of the garden a few days ago and I'd noticed that the tray was not as 'full' as usual - what a little gent he is!! I thought we'd have to train him to do it outside in the summer, clever cat. Have now forgiven him for curling up next to DSs head on his clean sheets!

wish my 6 month old cat would learn now, getting fed up with the tray, and my older lady cat being lazy and using it

JasHook · 21/02/2010 11:57

Yay for your cat! and I agree with Sparkly my old lady cats are very lazy and will use the kitten's tray if it's even remotely cold/wet/windy/just plain unappealing outside. Grr.

edam · 21/02/2010 11:59

Blimey, there's hope for my kitten then?

(Bet there will be a deluge of posts from people complaining about cats crapping outside now. As if every other animal that visits your garden has its own lavatory...)

Our little cat is nearly 6 mths..this is encouraging news. Does your cat give lessons BigMomma?

piratecat · 21/02/2010 12:05

wow, good news! my 6 month old has only just started looking outside, not going, wel maybe three steps. She's so frightened of the big bad world!

i am hoping the summertime will do the trick, as i am so so so fedup of the tray. There's just been no opportunity to go out with her in the garden.

BendyBob · 21/02/2010 12:13

Same here pirate. Our little boy cat goes out for a sniff and a circuit of the garden and that's him done. He hates the cold and wet.

When it snowed he sat in it and was most unimpressed. We were wondering if he sat on the freezing snow for a bit it'd save us having him 'done' later at the vets

Our cat has been desperate to go out ever since he had his last jab at 3 months old and now spends most of day outside (even in the rain) and can often be spotted at the top of the tree further down the road .

He has also followed DD halfway to school and had to be rescued from a busy roundabout, had to be rescued from a large bully cat two streets away by DH (we had to send out a search party and he was found trapped in terror in a hedge) and has followed the DSs and I almost to school (he normally waits for me further down and walks back with me).

He was 'done' last month mine you, don't know that makes any difference to his toilet habits but seeing as he was the 'runt' of the litter (the DCs wanted one of the prettier fluffy ones), he is now absolutely beautiful glossy, pure black and very clean, and I could'nt ask for a better class of cat!!
