Can I put the GPs on the grass yet?

Poor GPs have been stuck indoors all winter and I'm dying to let them out on the grass.

DH says its too cold for them and the grass is too mucky/sloppy etc but I think they'll be ok.

I've just been out and found a decentish patch of grass I can put the pen over but it is a bit frosty and crispy.

Will it be ok?

Read this title and thought you were putting the grandparents out to pasture until I saw the topic name. Then I had to have a think!

Yeah, I thought so but sorry, I know nothing about animals. Your parents would probably cope though

yeah they like to run around the living room but they stink they wipe their scent everywhere and the smell is really strong. DH will moan if he comes home from work and can smell it.

LOL crossed post, just to clarify Prosecco, its the guinea pigs that like to run around the living room although it does depend on what mood my mum is in ...

I wouldn't put them out on frosty grass because they'll eat it and give themselves a chill - a bit like eating ice cream outside in this weather! But if it thaws out later on and it's not too mucky, it should be fine. Just make sure you clean their feet off when they come inside and dry their tummies.

You could always lay a shower curtain down on the grass if you're worried about it being too muddy - you can pick one up in Tesco or Asda for less that £3. It'll keep them out off the wet grass but still lets them have plenty of exercise and some fresh air (and can be used as a sunshade in the summer). Grass has very little nutritional value at this time of year, so they're not missing out on anything if it's covered over.

Or let them loose in the kitchen or bathroom so you can wipe everywhere down easily before DH comes home - he'll never know
