They are lovely

Rehomed, sisters, blue and caramel tortoise-shell orientals.

One is happyish and attention seeking
One is sulking & spitting

So I guess I just leave them lone until they settle down?

Vets appointment at the end of the week or early next week I wonder?

DD is very, very happy
DH is resigned
I am at peace - a house needs (a) cat(s)

that is lovely! Can you put pics on profile?

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 07:54

Well I don't have any of my own but their ad is here

& they are just as pretty - I haven't had girls before

oh they are beautiful.

taffetacat · 16/02/2010 08:02

ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh

we are hopefully getting a cat in the next few months. Yours look lovely. We would like a rehomed one. Do you know if you are allowed to with small kids?

tulpe · 16/02/2010 08:08

Oh they are delicious

Same colouring as my british short-haired cats: one blue, one cream.

My two also have very different temperaments. Tom cat is very sociable - actively seeking out DCs for play & attention. Girl cat is rarely seen and hates to be picked up - you only get to stroke her if she initiates it! We have learned to accept them as they are. However, it may be that your spitting cat settles down within a few days and becomes happy and content.

I would recommend Feliway plug-in pheromone treatment. It sends out happy hormones to cats (you can't smell anything but they can). I have used it successfully when Tom cat was recovering from surgery after a car accident and also when settling in new pup this last week. Just plug it in wherever they spend most of their time.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 16/02/2010 08:15

oh they are lovely, two together is great! My two also are quite different in personality but it does take a little time for them to settle at first. So pleased DD is happy.

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 08:36

So do I take them to the vet sooner or later?

shockers · 16/02/2010 08:51

I agree that a house needs a cat . Mine makes me so happy

helenium · 16/02/2010 09:28

i think next week will be fine to visit vet.

PestoDrizzleMonster · 16/02/2010 09:32

Pleased for you Katymac, I agree, a home isn't a home without a cat

Vulgar · 16/02/2010 10:07

Oh- they are beautiful Katymac.

My heart was aching for you and your dd when you lost your lovely puss.

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 12:39

Very - they are beautiful.

Rehomed adult cats can take a couple of weeks or more to settle in - give them time.

Wishing you every happiness with your gorgeous new girls x

minimu · 16/02/2010 15:47

So glad you got them and hope you all have big smiles on your faces now. They are beautiful.

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 16:30

They are so pretty (not that I am biased) - I do hope they settle

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 18:47

Well they turned their nose up at the wet food so we put down some dry...still nothing but they ate a bit of chopped up ham that I put under each bed - they aren't speaking to each other either

RedbinDippers · 16/02/2010 18:51

They look great, homes definitely need cats.

sungirltan · 16/02/2010 18:56

oooh they are lovely!!

differentID · 16/02/2010 18:57

oh how lovely they are!

Katy- they will settle eventually. How far did they travel?

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 18:58

Only 20 minutes - but my house is a bit odd & very busy

OP posts:
differentID · 16/02/2010 19:01

They will be fine in a couple of days I'm sure.

Have you changed their names or keeping what they had?

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 19:03

Not sure - I was going to keep them I think; their pedigree name is very different

One suits the cat very well, the other doesn't quite fit

OP posts:
differentID · 16/02/2010 19:10

it's almost as bad as naming a child!

KatyMac · 16/02/2010 19:19

The more friendly/timid one (matches her name) I just picked up & put her by the food & she is eating

The more stand-offish/aggressive (not so sure about her name) one I haven't approached yet

OP posts:
KatyMac · 16/02/2010 19:20

Possibly worse differentID
