Why don't vets do loyalty cards?

After a hell of a week in which ALL my animals have ended up in the vets, I wish they would start one!

The puppy's elbow is healing well but just when we thought we were making some progress, her clipper burn got infected because she kept stratching at it. She actually made a hole in her skin So it's left a horrible scabby mess that I think is going to scar

The big dog has taken to chewing her paw pads through stress with all the changes that have happened with the puppy over the last couple of weeks, so they are red raw and she's on zylkene and extra Vitamin B. We've tried so hard not to change her routine but she's obviously picked up on the puppy's stress from being crated during the day and not getting walked, and it's making her stressed too. Hopefully she's improve as the puppy does.

The cats decided to get in on the action too - they went in for their boosters and the vet noticed one of them has the beginnings of a skin complaint, so we have to go back next week to get the results of her scapes and sort out her treatment. And the other has lost all of the teeth between her top two incisors. The vet thinks it's the result of a virus that they can suffer from as kittens, that makes their teeth fall out in later life. It wouldn't surprise me as they were in a state when we got them, so probably had this virus on top of everything else. So the poor cat could end up with no teeth, and she's not even 4 yet

And during the cat visit, our third appointment in as many days, DH jinxed us by joking with the vet that at least we've never had to bring the rabbits or guinea pig in...and what happened? The next morning, we noticed the boy rabbit had badly scratched his eye and it was bleeding, so cue a panicked rush to the vets (unannounced at 9am and still seen within five minutes, I my vet!). After sorting out his eye, she noticed that his ears were in a a bit of state, and further investigations showed him to have ear mites, of all things! We're all completely bamboozled about how he's got them, as he's 4 years old and has never suffered with them before, and hasn't been in contact with any new animals. We had him in the house at xmas trimming his nails and he was fine then, so it's just cropped up within the last few weeks. The vet thinks he caught his eye when he was scratching. And of course we came straight home and checked the girl rabbit and the guinea pig, and they've all got them. So they'll have to be boxed up and taken to the vet every week to be treated (not so easy as they're a bit antisocial and their living area is huge!), and I spent most of today cleaning out their hutch and run and spraying everywhere with mite killer stuff to kill any eggs and larvae, which will have to be done every week for the next month to break the life cycle. The vet says it'll take weeks to get them all cleared up

So I ended up at the vet four times last week and have three more appointments this week. I think a loyalty card is more than justified - it could be like the Boots card, and you chould save up points to use against future illnesses!

On top of all that, my tumble dyer and microwave broke on the same day, and DH's granny has been taken into hopital and they say she's only got a matter of days or weeks left to live, and if she survives past this week she's got to go into a home

I'm trying to remember if I've broken any mirrors lately

Oh feck, MrsL - poor you, and your poor pets

Afaik no loyalty cards, but vets financial reports often show which were the highest spending clients that month, so rest assured it will be noted

Get well soo, all

Thanks everyone, hopefully this will be my full year's quota of pet problems, and I won't have any more!

My luck doesn't get much better today, I dutifully turned up at the vets at 6pm tonight with three furries in boxes, only to be told my appointment is actually on Wednesday night I think I have finally lost the plot! The worst thing is my vet wasn't even there, so I'll still have to go back on Wednesday! I think my brain is a bit fried.

DH's granny is still hanging on - although TBH I'm not sure this a good thing. She's being fed through a tube and is completely incontinent, and she's not even interacting anymore. DH went to see her today and she just stared right through him, and he said she's just not there anymore. He's not going to visit again, he said he doesn't want to remember her like that, and she doesn't know he's there anyway. His mum and aunty are in complete denial and keep talking about 'when she gets home', which obviously isn't going to happen. Very sad
