Can Gunea pigs go out on wet grass?

I want to clean them out tomorrow and it seems a better bet than putting them in a cardboard transfer box. They haven't played out for weeks as we brought them in due to the snow and so are not getting daily grass.

I thought so. It will be weeks before it dries out though.

Can I ask why wet grass is bad and is that just Guinea pigs or any hutch/run type animals?

Mine does too but he does keep getting a fungal infection... just wondered if the two were connected.

mine have been out today and are out most days on wet grass as i like them to excersise- i dont like them cooped up - they are quite free to roam except on a night when i lock them back in - they are not swimming in wetness though as they avoid themuddy wet areas. I understand they are more supcetable (sp?) to getting poorly chests. Mine are ard as nails. The hutch is dry and i put in nice dry hay and the likes in daily so they are not all wet and damp.

Actually eating the wet grass won't do them any harm at all. The problem is that wet grass equals wet legs and tummies, which is OK in warm weather but can cause a chill at this time of year (especially if there's a cool breeze). So as long as you don't leave them out too long and dry them off thoroughly before putting them back in the hutch, they should be fine.

Also fab, meant to add - grass doesn't really have much nutritional value at this time of year like the spring grass does, so it shouldn't cause them any problems to go without - the dried grass you get from pet shops will do just fine.

Prefer a towel myself, but I understand some piggies prefer the added volume of a blow dry

Well, I needn't have worried.

I opened the hutch really quietly and they were still in their bed so I picked them up in it and put them in their run on some paper and cleaned out their hutch. They didn't move out of their bed and went back in their hutch exactly how they had come out.
