Desperate to peek!

I picked the pup's x-rays up from the vet tonight so I can take them to her appointment with the orthopaedic surgeon next week. Despite the fact I have no idea what I'm looking for, I'm desperate to have a peek at them! They were sent away for the surgeon's opnion after they were taken, so I've not really seen them. The only reason I've been able to resist so far is that one of the vet's address stickers is stuck over the flap of the envelope, so it'd be really obvious I'd peeked...

Wonder if I'll be able to control myself until next week

Oh, have a look. Why not?

They wont say anything at you for looking at them

MrsL123 · 21/01/2010 21:23

lol I feel like a naughty kid at chistmas! I'll wait until tomorrow so I can put them up against the window and pretend I'm House

You are too well brought up.

I bet you always eat all the food on your plate too,

MrsL123 · 21/01/2010 21:46

And everyone else's

You're so naughty! You need a template of 'normal' hips to compare them to, and you'd also have to factor in the pup's age, breed, skill of the radiographer

I don't even know what I want to look for, I just know I want to look! They're sat on the shelf, so smug in their big brown envelope with X RAY FILMS stamped on the side in big black letters, looking all official and untouchable, just begging me to open them.....

I think it reminds me of one of those top secret folders they used to get in the X Files

No harm having a tiny peek.

As long as they don't look like this

MrsL123 · 21/01/2010 22:14

lol I hope not

Bella that reminds me, I wanted to ask your opinion on something. She-of-the-dodgy-hips is not spayed yet and I want to get her done before her first season (she'll be 9 months on the 5th Feb). Our vet usually likes to wait until they've had their season, but will do it earlier if circumstances demand it (which ours do - 6 intact labs around us). With her going in for this operation on her elbow (hopefully just keyhole to clean out the loose chips), I was going to ask if they would consider spaying her whilst she was under - the reason being, there'd only be one period of recovery and then she can start acting like a normal dog, especially after she's been in pain pretty much her whole life. But do you think they would be open to this idea? Obviously the orthopaedic guy won't do it himself, but the operation will be getting done at the vet hospital, so I thought someone else could come in and do it before they bring her round? It doesn't really matter whether I pay my own vet or theirs to do it, as long as it gets done. DH thinks they'll just want to concentrate on her elbow and nothing else, but it seems a shame to let her recover from one operation just to put her through another. Do you think it's worth asking them?

Definitely worth asking - better just to have one GA than two within a relatively short space of time. Can't think of any real reason why they wouldn't, assuming they can get another vet in - unless the elbow surgery is going to take a long time and consequently she would be under the anaesthetic for a very long period. Interesting. Do let us know what they say, please

MrsL123 · 21/01/2010 23:08

Thanks bella, I thought it'd be worth asking, they can only say no afterall! I'm going to take two weeks off work following her op, and DH will take some time off after that if necessary, so hopefully we can get it all done at once and then let her move on and be a proper dog. If not I think we'll let her have her first season and get her done afterwards, so she at least has a few months of feeling OK before we slice 'n' dice her again!
