Cat will not stop miaowing!

My seven-month old cat will not stop miaowing - she's been like it for about 3 days now. She's eating and using her litterbox properly and doesn't seem unwell. It seems like it's probably just an attention thing - she stops if I dangle a bit of string etc in front of her, but as soon as I stop she starts up again. She was like this about a fortnight ago for 24 hours, but she was also very affectionate and rubbing herself over everything so I assumed she was in heat. None of those signs now though. Should I be worried? She's going to the vet to be spayed on Tuesday, and as she seems well I wasn't planning on taking her in before that, should I be?

Does anyone have any ideas why she might be miaowing so much? Is this normal? My other two cats (also both female) were both very quiet and never made a peep - she's always been vocal, chirruping etc to greet, but never like this awful yowling. Is there anything I can do to stop it? It's driving me and my housemates crazy!

She has something very important to tell you - I'm guessing that a boy called Jimmy is stuck down a mineshaft somewhere close to you.

Actually, I have no idea - if she looks healthy and is eating well, then it's probably a "pay me attention" miaow, in which case you're going to have to ignore or it won't ever stop. Cats do tend to be generally a bit calmer once they've been spayed, though (or maybe that just coincides with getting a bit older). It must be driving you insane.

How is she holding her tail ? If it is raised all the time, and slightly to one side (an invitation to the male !), then she is probably still on heat, or may be having a second, bigger season ?

Be prepared that, if this is the case and she is still in season when due to be neutered, they may put off the operation.

What's that like I'm very jealous - my cats talk miaow ALL the time, we can hold whole conversations with them because they answer you back (and strangely make more sense than DH ). If you tell them to be quiet, they howl even louder in response. You can't even walk past their beds without one of them literally shouting at you to stroke them. Our fat lazy cat has perfected a miaow that sounds like 'mummy', and it's quite funny to watch people's faces when they hear her The other cat decides to jump on your chest in the middle of the night and does this wierd whisper-miaow, like she's fully aware it's night time but still wants to wake you up. She cries and cries until you open your eyes - at which point you usually find her staring at you about an inch from your nose, and then she licks your face. I have wierd cats!

Sounds like she is in heat again. Give your vet a ring - they'll advise you.

Yes, sounds like it to me too! I don't know if Feliway would work for that - has anyone else tried it?
