My 8wk old puppy is not keen on dog food

Is this normal? This morning he had scrambled egg for breakfast, which he loved. However, he is not eating his dog food. We have tried him on both pedigree chum puppy food and dried iams. Also, he prefers to drink milk not water. We have got him some goat's milk.

We only got him yesterday, so his lack of appetite may just be down to getting used to new surroundings. Any tips welcome. I have a feeling I am going to have lots more questions. He is a cocker cross.

Mutt!

No, seriously, they are often much more interested in what's going on around them than their food at this stage.

Mutt is right - stick to the best complete food you can afford, and water for drinking.

Bless.

I remember feeling like this and getting really upset when our PFP (precious first puppy) did not eat much.

We were advised to give her dry food, but found that she eats best on Cesar mixed with Hills.

If I did give in and give her anything from the table, she would not eat much for a day or two in the hope that I would give in and give her it again.

Thanks for your advice. He did eat some iams puppy food this morning, which was the first puppy food he has eaten. Strangely enough, he tries to eat his poo if I do not clean it up before he can get to it. I cannot imagine that puppy food is more unpleasant that puppy poo

Poo eating (coprophagia) can be behavioural or it can have a medical reason. Cut out the really rich fatty food (e.g. scrambled eggs ), keep him on the complete food and it should stop. If it doesn't he'll need to be checked over by the vet.
