Why does my cat chew/suck plastic bags and should I be worried?

Is she likely to chew a chunk off, and suffocate or something?

Any carrier bag left on the floor gets thoroughly loved.

It will chew off small pieces and may block its bowel. I know a dog died this way. It may also get it head inside the bag and suffocate.

I had a cat that used to lick plastic bags in anticipation of having food. Something to do with getting the digestive juices flowing I always thought.

I think it might be due to a nutritional issue. I know someone who had a cat that did this. She went on a pet programme on tv and the vet on there said that the cat needed to be put on a special diet.

Well, my cats are on a top of the range cat food and they still would eat balloons if I let them. So I don't think it can really be a nutritional issue.

Yes, can cause a blockage and kill. Keep the kitties away from the bags
