DD1 is 2 yo now and has quite taken to a cat, well I think it is an older kitten TBH. It sits on our windowsill outside and lets DD stroke him. Now I am not a lover of cats and TBH we couldn't have one that lived here anyway due to having 2 dogs that have never been brought up with cats. Also my mum (and main babysitter lol) is absolutely terrified of cats so I really couldn't have one here.

Does anyone know of anywhere where we could sponsor a cat/kitten in DD's name and take her to visit it.

The cat that comes to visit is lovely but I don't want to start encouraging it to come here as it has a collar on and looks really well looked after so it is obviously a very loved little cat. I don't think it would be fair on the owners if I did that. But I would like DD to have the opportunity to interact with cats / kittens as she seems to be so taken with them.

I don't know of anywhere where you can adopt and visit without keeping. You are right not to get one too. And also, not to encourage the kitten - it is hugely distressing if your cat is fed by anyone else and encouraged to come into their home.

I think you're just going to have to make friends with a cat lover and visit often

You can join Cats Protection and get newsletters, mags etc, and visit their rehoming centres but you won't be able to see and interact with a particular cat.

Agree not a good idea to keep encouraging someone else's cat to come round.

Your mum seems to be the only real obstacle to you having one of your own - unless you have dyed in the wool cat chasers as dogs, then most dogs can learn to live quite happily with cats.

I don't know much about them but I wonder if the Cinnamon Trust might be able to help ?
