Cleaning litter tray

What's the best way to clean the cat litter tray?
What products should I/can I/shouldn't I use?
Sorry if this is a really silly question, but it's my first time!
The cats (2) have been here for 5 days. I have the clumping litter so remove clumps twice a day but will empty it once a week. Is this enough for 2 of them or should I do it more often?
Do I use bleach?

I used to use dettol I also used to buy those bags you put in the bottom of the tray and then you can just lift it straight out.

Anti bac wipes are good too.

Ok thanks. I didn't want to use any chemical that may harm them, although I'll obviously give the tray a good rinse with hot water.
I have seen the tray liners, might get some actually.

Yes, you can use bleach. The things that are toxic to cats are the ones that go cloudy in water - Jeyes fluid, dettol etc. Even when rinsed away the traces left are harmful.
Pet shops sell specialist cleaners or you can use a solution of biological washing liquid/powder.

Oh bugger I used dettol maybe thats why my cat left us for the old lady up the road [sob] .

Thanks Bella. I had cats when I was a child, but obviously wasn't involved in the care of them. I just played/annoyed them!
I'll use bleach for today and then have a look for specialist cleaners

When you're buying antibac wipes or similar, try to get unscented ones. While you need it clean and unsmelly, if it doesn't smell to the cat like a litter tray because it reeks of lemon or flowers, they may consider going elsewhere.

You're welcome.

All the best with your new furry friends

Thanks again. I cleaned it with bleach and have re-filled it. The litter that we're using has a rose-petal scent to it so not too stinky at the mo.
The cats haven't used it yet because they are hiding under the kitchen cupboards. They are still getting used to the extra noise of 2 very small children.
