If you have guinea pigs and a separate run

Are you putting them out daily for a play, even though the grass is wet/muddy?

I want mine to play but the ground is so cold and when they do go out they eat a bit of grass and then sit in their house most of the time.

Yep, with some hay and making sure that the run is turned towards the sun for the whole day.

I do put hay down but wonder if they really are bothered about going out as they don't do a lot, even though they have toys.

Mine are out almost every day, even in winter (but not when its very stormy, the run gets blown away easily .They have a little hiding place in the run and I line it with newspaper and hay, they like cuddle up in there. But they also enjoy running around (and annoy the cats from next door) and seem to eat a lot of grass, even when its a little damp...hasn`t caused any them any harm yet.

I've got their run indoors and put them in it most days.

The pet shop gave me a box and I put them in it while I cleaned them out and then today they went in it and sat on the kitchen table for a while. Our lawn is waterlogged and just seems too cold and wet to put them out in it. They have a really bug hutch but still worry they will miss out.

I keep wondering about the travel cot as a play area for the piggies as we aren't having any more babies.

I would have to put the cat out though in case she discovers she can jump in to it. Actually I think she might have been in it when the baby had left it nice and warm.
