......being the right way to go for me and Digby, my 21/22 week old lhasa apso.
We've only been once and it was for half hour. The 6 other dogs were much bigger in size and very boisterous off the lead.
Digby is an adorable fun loving puppy, but I felt under pressure and 'rushed' at the puppy class.I don't know what I expected really, but I have a gut feeling that it's not what I want. It was gruelling and with no time/space to assimilate tasks. Too many different tasks packed into a very short space of time imo.
All week I have been worrying about it and turning it over and over in my mind. I found the whole experience stressful, and feel I would be better to carry on training him on my own with Gwen Bailey's book and advice from here, friends etc.....
I have all day with him, and have the time to be patient and go at our own pace. I'm still working on toilet training and he very rarely has an accident, and if he does, it is usually my lack of vigilance.
He is pretty quick to learn and an intelligent puppy. I also have a gut feeling that the class will be more of a hindrance than a help.
But basically, quite apart from Digby, I don't feel cut out for this way of learning.
Any opinions either way ?
