Here we give him 2 sachets a day. One in the morning around 6am when I get up and another about 7pm ish. He has biscuits with it too

bodeniites · 19/09/2009 19:26

captainmillenniumflint · 19/09/2009 19:31

fair enough

does and of this ring any bells?

kittymax · 19/09/2009 19:31

7 pouches is equivalent of almost 2 tins, which seems quite a lot. Normal amount is between 3/4 tin and 1 1/2 tins.
Why not give her a worm treatment and see if she eats less. Or ask your vet or vets nurse what they think? Maybe try giving her 6 pouches and see if she's bothered? If she continues to eat 7 pouches a day, she will eventually become a bit on the chunky side. And that's not good for the life expectancy or quality of life. Maybe she needs more exercise? Does she chase things (prob easier than getting her on wii fit)?

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 19:38

thankyou captain

i'll have a read of that now

kittymax

she's been wormed two weeks ago
no she doesn't chase anything infact she is quite withdrawn.

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 19:41

no she doesnt have any of those.
but she must have something wrong with her, if she is so hungry.

Was she skinny as a result of being under fed in her previous home, or was she being fed a normal amount of food and got skinny on that?

If she was being underfed then I would guess that she's just compensating now, and trying to build back up to her normal body weight. I would try graudually weaning her down, drop a sachet every three or four days. Also feed her at set times rather than 'demand feeding'. You should eventually be able to get her down to two meals of day, with a bowl of dry food left out for snacks.

If she was being fed a regular amount in her last home and got thin on that then it sounds like she may have health issues, and should probably see the vet.

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 20:28

the lady who had her before said it was due to her having kittens and she gave me a box of aldi dry food and said thats all she has she doesnt like wet food.

OP posts:
thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 20:32

she has seen the vet a few times since i have had her firstly due to her been so skinny the vet said "she was fine" and and again a few weeks ago and he said she was fine.

OP posts:
captainmillenniumflint · 19/09/2009 20:40

did you mention her excessive appetite to the vet (i guess not, if you've only just found out she eats an unusually large amount).

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 20:46

no i just said she is a eating well and i couldnt see why the previous owner said she didnt like other types of food.

but i didnt at first think it was excessive, i just thought she was making up for lost time.

OP posts:
captainmillenniumflint · 19/09/2009 20:49

i'd go with the advice here to gradually cut down her food and see if she'll readjust to less. if she begins to lose weight or acts really annoying hungry all the time it's worth another trip to the vet.

is she friendly?

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 20:55

yes she's(no 2) fine but we have to go to her.
i dunno she(no 2) just seems not like a cat should i have another cat(no 1) also and she runs around, plays, loves fuss, sits on your lap but the 2nd cat doesnt do any of that.

captainmillenniumflint · 19/09/2009 21:02

i hate friendly cats i have one and he just bugs you something rotten, dribbles, sticks his claws in... i love haughty cats that sit on the sunny patch of the windowsill and look at you distainfully if they bother to look at you at all, they're proper cats

thesunshinesbrightly · 19/09/2009 21:13

if you say so.
