Tell me what you have bought in case I have missed anything please?

Anything you do and don't recommend will be good too.

TIA.

I think I mean shavings, not sawdust.

Seems like the bed may have been a mistake .

It looks so comfy though.

OMG, I didn't realise there was so much to discuss abour gp's! My daughter is keen to get them and I need to know everything about them before I commit - I think I do know everything now!

BTW, where is the Guinea Pig rescue place? Nd if we bought a couple, what would we expect to pay for them? Thanks

Depends where you are, nanny. There's a fair few around. I think they usually charge to help with their costs and to show a commitment. Not sure how much, but probably not a great deal. Not nearly as much as the hutch and run...

what I call sawdust is not real sawdust like you get from sawing wood but something very very soft I get from the pet shop. As I said it is in the corners they wee in to absorb with newspaper underneath and over the top. I have no idea what it really is come to think of it. I don't put hay down there because I don't fancy them weeing on it then eating it and gps like fresh hay but they are not that choosy. It's nice to have some hay in a kind of rack to keep it clean but honestly they are not at all difficult animals and you can get by with a lot less than you already have OP. You sound very well prepared.

Mine sleep in hay, straw is too scratchy I think and I worry about it getting in their eyes but a lot of people use it. The soft bed sounds very cosy. I'd go ahead and use it since you have it but you may be washing it a fair bit.

I think they're probably fine outside (assuming you're not posting from the arctic) as long as they're protected from damp and draughts. Make sure their hutch is securely fastened against foxes. Hutch hugger sounds good, as long as there's ventilation!

FabBakerGirl - use that cosy bed. A poorly pig would certainly appreciate it. I used old towels, washed daily when our boys were neutered and needed a bit of extra comfort, but one of those beds would have been just the job.
