LOL @ FFS its 6am,have a poo!!

Discovered today that Molly, although fine with traffic/hoovers/hoardes of noisy dc is terrified of balloons. Having a wee party for ds1's 18th so she will have to learn PDQ not to be scared poor thng.

Dill has not had a shit poo in the house at all today (so far) which is amazing given he now has diarrhoea and has been throwing up . I've hastily activated my free-for-six-weeks Kennel Club pet insurance just in case

I can't believe how admirably he's coped with everything - 3 children arriving home today, 3 more arriving as guests in the evening. Took it all in his stride (clearly he's gifted. I'm convinced he came when I called his name earlier [snort]). Even the huge fireworks last night (no idea what for) didn't freak him out at all.

Oh, I've gone for "busy busy" as my pooing codeword.

(God, I never thought I'd need a pooing code word for a dog)

chicken and rice for D and V works a treat. We skipped a meal (some people don't do this but we found Otto was fine just gave his system a rest)then plain boiled chicken and rice for 48 hours. It is very easily digested and little waste so he won't poo much anyway .Gradually introduce normal food again. Also you need to really watch that he doesn't get dehydrated as pups like babies can go downhill pretty quick.

SoupDragon · 06/09/2009 21:46

I was worried about dehydration but he's actually drinking plenty. He's also alert when awake. I think it's just the stress/excitement from the change in environment - he's having exactly the same food as before because he came home with a supply of it yesterday. If he's still iffy tomorrow, I'll try the chicken & rice, thanks.

I am following this thread with great interest, as it will be my turn in about 4 weeks. Really quite excited!

Soupdragon what have you done with sleeping? Did he go straight to sleeping in crate in kitchen, or have you had him in with you for a bit? Not sure what to do about that.

And how was the 1 1/2 hrs on his own?

He looks VERY cute by the way!

SoupDragon · 07/09/2009 11:51

He's in the old playpen in the kitchen and went straight there from Day 1 (I'm from the start-as-you-mean-to-go-on school of "parenting). I didn't get up to him at all in the night although I heard him whining occasionally. I left the radio on overnight and made a huge fuss of him in the morning.

Unfortunately, he's discovered he can squeeze through the playpen bars! I didn't want to buy a crate really.

The 1.5 hours alone will be from 3-4:30 this afternoon. Ah well, the kitchen floor is tiled and thus moppable...

Just wondered how you were doing with Dill?
