I thought I would change her dried food to a higher meat content one and I thought I was doing it right by mixing it with her old one etc. However, dh puts the last food out at night and he didn't tell me the old food had run out so she only had the new one. She now has spectacular diarrhoea and has been turfed outside before breakfast.

After having cleaning the house several times already (including last night at 10 pm when we came in after being out all day - great fun!) I do not want to make it any worse and feel sorry for her as well. What should I give her to eat before I can get out to get her old food - and should I just give her that anyway?

It's a good job she is beautiful.

Hello!

My cat had a similar prob after we left her into a cattery when we went on holiday. See seems to have been poorly treated there, and picked up a runny tummy.

Anyway, the only food that helped her was Royal Canin Sensitivity Control. It's sachets of wet food which she loves and it dried up her tummy instantly. We still have her on it 6 months later and once when we ran out and replaced it with another wet food for a few days the problem started again

You can get that Royal Canin stuff from the vets - it costs around £10 for a 12 sachet box. You don't need an appointment always, just go to vets and ask if you can buy it.

Pet shops like Jolley's or Pets at Home might do another Royal Canin one which is similar, but from what I'm told from my local pet shops (in Belfast), the Senstivity Control is from vets only.

Hope that helps.

give her a few meals of chicken or fish- just something very bland and easy to digest. No milk, nothing dairy.

If it doesn't clear up in a day or sao then I'd take her to the vets- but if it does then gradually put her back onto the food you'd like her to have.

Any change in diet should be gradual- mix new food in with old food over the space of a few days.

You can get the science paln sensitivity control from a vets- it is a prescription only diet so only available from the vet.
It maybe they need to see the kitten first, but maybe they'll sell you some for a few days to see if it helps her setlle.

HTH- how old is she?

She is about 7 months old. I have given her some chicken but she didn't want very much and has gone back out again. She very kindly comes home when she wants the toilet so I guess I need to train her to go outside - another saga probably!

So should I only give her chicken for a day? Then can she have her notmal wet food - she doesnt eat very much really only half a pouch a couple of times a day but her dried food is down most of the day but she eats is mostly overnight. Will she be ok if I just give her the dried food she has been used to and give up on the new one do you think?

should it be this troublesome or am I just lucky

She's flaked out! Has been out most of the day with a couple of trips back for some chicken.

Not sure whether to give her anything other than chicken tonight?
