I'll discuss!

I had never thought about this until I started reading dog books a few weeks ago.

As soon as you start doing any sort of reading (and I've not read in depth at all) you come across loads of research discrediting pack theory or dominance theory.

I'm reading this book at the moment and it's fascinating stuff

I find it interesting that 1) wolves may live in packs but they don't always follow the rules of dominance hierarchy and 2) dogs are not really like wolves - they don't tend to live in packs in the wild anyway, and they are more co-operative then competitive as a species

Surely for anyone who loves dogs, it makes more sense to reinforce behaviour you like and be the "good guy"?

than competitive

Abstract here for anyone who's interested.

Maybe some of these cracker-munching loonies will sit up and listen now.

Here's hoping...
