Dog is only 8 months. He spent the day yeaterday with MIL and various nephews/neices. He got yup this morning and has poured diarrhoea and been sick loads. All frothy and slimy (the vomit). I'm wonderding what unsuitable food he's been given.
He looks a bit brighter now and has just gathered all his toys onto the sofa so I think he's feeling better.
Dilemma is I only got around to geting insurance 3 days ago and it doesn't cover him for 10 days. Am I a Bad Person for this being my first thought?

vets fees are awful. If there's blood in it he needs to be seen though. if not he needs a diet of water for at least 24 hours. Bet he enjoyed himself loads yesterday though .

Remove food for 24 hours, see how he is. It's most likely he's snaffled something he shouldn't have.

My dogs often get the occasional mini bout of the runs and/or being sick. The first couple of times I rushed them to the vets, got a big bill just under the insurence excess and havent bothered since then for this. It is always something they've eaten and lasts day or so.
Of course if they were obvioulsy ill I'd taken them but if he's recovering I wouldnt.

Our dog used to get this after he had eaten stuff in the garden, we later found out it was toadstalls he was munching on!

We were adviced to give him a plain diet (Rice/chicken) for a few days & see how he went.

Hope your dog will be ok!

How's your pup?

purpleduck · 18/05/2009 16:44

My small dog has a sensitive tummy (exploded poo the other day - in the hall, poo was splatted on the wall 3 feet away, but I digress )

I usually give him a bland diet for a day or 2.

Dog is better now thanks. MIL said some of the nephews were eating marshmallows so I suspect that is the problem. Will be gioving them strict instructions never to feed him sweets next time i see the little brats darlings.
