poorly cat to cattery for two weeks!!

With impeccable timing my 14 year old cat has been sick for 2 weeks just before our holiday - she's booked into the cattery for two weeks!!
Vet has done blood tests, x-rays etc (not cheap), can't find anything - cat being sick, off her food (seems hungry, but turns her nose up at everything you offer her).
Why now?? I can't bear the thought of sending her to the cattery while she's poorly, but I can't really cancel our long awaited holiday either.
We're back at the vets tomorrow to see whether there's anything else that can be done. The vet doesn't seem to know what the matter is...
Not really expecting any solutions, but just spouting really. Are there any vets out there - what could this be?

The thing is, would the cattery accept her while sick? Has the vet considered furballs as a cause? It's a possibility now that the weather is warmer and cats are shedding their excess winter hairs. My cat had a phase of being sick but without seeming ill, and was given a tube of greasy stuff which was intended to stick the hairs he'd swallowed from grooming together, so preventing the irritation which caused the vomiting. The hairs pass through the digestive system without causing any blockage, which was my first thought, but the hairs do cause irritation when they build up, and don't always get moved along the digestive system. The greasy stuff aided this, and was easy to give, very palatable to cats!

A good cattery is unlikely to accept her if she is poorly.

A cattery that doesn't mind if she's poorly is unlikely to be the sort that will give her the care she will need and get her to a vet if she goes downhill.

Plus the stress of being in a cattery could well make her worse.

I would cancel my holiday, but it is your choice.

yep, has tried Katalax, which helps bring any furballs up/down. Didn't really help. Going to vet again this afternoon
Am inclined to agree about the cattery - am going to phone them after vet trip, to see what they say.

Do you have any friends or family who could look after her?
