We are thinking of moving to a village (suburb now) and have 2 young DC (3 and 5). Dh loves animals but never had one and is a bit of a push over. We always had dogs 9at my parents house) so think I know what I am letting myself in for.

Its a cross breed between a Yorkshire terrier and a Shih-Tzu and he is 4 months old. Not the dog I would have pictured myself or DH with (DH being 6ft7)but just totally adorable.

I need to hear all the cons please as am seeing this all through rose tinted glasses and I know that that is not going to be the case!

Your DH will look like a COMPLETE twat with this dog

People will LAUGH

this is a terrible idea

Sounds very small

are you sure he will pass height regulation

or is it likely he will be trodden on daily, hoovered up occasionally, etc etc

flightoftheeasterbunyip · 20/04/2009 20:53

You might like to consider a Nin ten dog.

They are almost as big.

VinoEsmeralda · 20/04/2009 20:59

No no he is not that small! Reckon he'll be just over 30-35cm heigh by the time he is 9 months

small dogs dont always mean small attitude ,ive seen a cairn try its luck with a giant schnauzer !!!!

flightoftheeasterbunyip · 20/04/2009 21:05

Oh bless

Sorry I am sure he's lovely, was just being silly

Fwiw I lived on a farm once where there were loads of tiny welsh children. There was also a family of Shih-tzu doggies and puppies, all the pups would trot along behind the mummy dogs, in a little row. It was so sweet.

Mad but sweet.

LOL Flight!

But more to the point we are about to move house, I would like to start work in September ( school hours &term time only) and DH is a little reluctant (it has to be your dog).

Think its just not the right time for us but those poor dogs need rehoming (several litters, same parents and taken away from the owners)

I work school hours term time and have a dog walker in the afternoons to walk my border collie, I also give her a long walk in the morning.. (come hell or high water) I'm not sure how much excercise they need but I'm sure he will miss the company. can anyone come and walk him in the afternoons? do you have a big garden?

forgot to add he sounds adorable... dog not your husband!
