Does anyone keep their guinea pigs in an eglu?

I am considering getting some guinea pigs, I think that the best hutch for us would be the eglu. My main question is are they any good?

I was also hoping to go down the route of finding a guinea pig from the RSPCA or other re-homing organisation, I have googled their requirements and they suggest a minimum hutch size of 4ft x 2ft. The eglu house is smaller than that, but I am assuming that the run counts - or am I deluding myself?

The hutch itself is 2ft 8" both sides but the run is permanently attached making it 6ft long by 4ft wide, at the widest point.

It is the ease of movement of this hutch that has attracted me to it, but I am now wondering whether or not it is big enough.

Herbietea, it your run attached to the hutch?

We have two guinea pigs from the RSPCA, there inspector measured their new home to check it was the right size. I think you have to have the 4ft by 2ft which would be the sleeping area and the run. Then a seperate run for going on the grass. Not sure if the eglu would be ok as it's run has to go on grass so in the winter when they need to be in somewhere warm they would only have the smaller living area. My two like to chew the wood of their cage this helps prevents any dental problems. They make great pets.

We have 2 guineas. They live in a standard PAH cage indoors, and we have a hutch outside. We don't have a garden as such, so have an old cat litter tray and grow grass in it for the guineas. They love it, although the cat isn't impressed!

Not sure what an eglu is, but it sounds like a form of house. Our guineas have an edible house in their indoor cage, which they have totally ragged to death!!

Thanks, I think that I will have to talk to the Animal welfare inspector before making any rash purchases!!
